I got to the beach at around 1pm and found Chriss just packin his kite up and Ben out sailing with his 5.3m sail. Chris said it was rally gusty and not very nice out there. Ben didn't look to be having a great time either.

I rigged my 5.7m sail and big (99ltr) board and joined Ben. I was nicely powered up and having a good sail in the flattish waters ben looked a little under powered at times and complained about it being so gusty. I didn't really notice the gusts too much as i had a relatively big sail rigged nice and flat, so it twisted off really well in any gusts, but was still big enought o keep me goign through any lulls.

Ben then went in and pcaked up, so I stopped for a bit and had a chat. I went back out as Ben drove off and found that the wind had actually picked up a little and swung around to be a little more westerly than before. I sailed like this for a while, but started getting a little overpowered, even after applying a little more outhaul. I came in for a rest and a think about changing down to my 5m and wave board when I saw a couple of other windsurfers rigginf up further down the car park. I wandered down for a chat with them and found it to be Simon and Sarah from just down the road from me. we all then went out for a sail and I didn't bother changing down. Simon was on a 6.8m cambered race sail and 295 Xantos (well he is quite big), but was a little overpowered on that at times. He was however flying along and I had no chance of keeping up with him. We had a few good runs fairly close together though where I tried my best to keep up, but usually gybed when he did which gave him another chance to come flying past me!

Sarah was doing OK too. A big squall came through then and we couldn't see a thing, but the wind and swell picked up again so we just kept going. The wind then dropped a little so I packed up, befoe it once again picked up and swung WSW.

A good session, and nice to be out sailing with other people for a change.
